Study of plunger pump with linear motor
Machát, Pavel ; Habán, Vladimír (referee) ; Pochylý, František (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is an engineering design of plunger pump with linear motor. This type of pump is used especially for blood pumping in heart surgery. The theoretical part is focused on distribution of pumps, description of extracorporeal circuit and booster heart history. There are basic calculations derived, which describe plunger pump performance. Then varied designs of plunger pumps follows, which are differed in size, shape and application. Next part includes design of reverse valves and their CFD computation.
Vortex pump as a possible heart replacement
Coufalík, Martin ; Klas, Roman (referee) ; Klas, Roman (referee) ; Fialová, Simona (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the issue of artificial hearts and ventricular assist devices. The theoretical part describes the heart and its function. Blood is characterized in terms of rheological behavior and the possible criteria for hemolysis are discussed. The following section describes the most commonly used ventricular assist devices, with emphasis on the use of the regenerative pump, including its components. In the practical part, an experimental analysis of two pumps (COV 43 and COV 23) is performed. Furthermore, non-dimensional characteristics of the pumps are constructed using the laws of similarity. In the computational part, the CFD analysis of the regenerative pump is performed by means of stationary and transient calculation. The results are compared with the experimental findings and based on the results, the impeller of regenerative pump was modified.
Artificial heart on the principle of gas accumulators
Kunický, Ondřej ; Fialová, Simona (referee) ; Pochylý, František (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the design of an artificial heart based on the principle of gas accumulators. The introductory part describes the anatomy and physiology of the human cardiovascular system, mechanical heart replacement and the basic properties of pneumatic mechanisms. Furthermore, there is shown the procedure of pneumatic circuit design and its simulation in the program Simulink. The experimental part contains verification of the functionality of the pneumatic circuit, designed the positive displacement pump, and the measured characteristics of both ventricles. The last part of the work deals with the reduction possibilities of dimensions and weight of the whole mechanism. There is also included computational modelling of the pneumatic circuit using helium as a working medium.
Micropump for Medicamentous Therapy
Ondrák, Tomáš ; Brandštetter,, Pavel (referee) ; Pochylý,, František (referee) ; Koláčný, Josef (advisor)
This doctoral thesis originated as a requirement of micropump for artificial heart with using a suitable type of electric drive. It is an interdisciplinary cooperation of FSI Brno, Department of Fluid Engineering of Viktor Kaplan, FEKT Brno, Department of Power Electronics and finally the doctors from Cardiology Medical Center in St. Ann’s Hospital. FSI Brno made mechanical solutions of micropump, FEKT Brno solved electric drive and Cardiologic Medical Center gave the knowledge of human anatomy. Work deals with design, creation and testing of various types micropumps for medicamentous using. In this thesis was suggested various solutions of electric drive for micropump, its structure and function. Work is primarily experimental in nature and is heavily supported by a creative approach in creating a variety of proposed solutions. Several proposals of micropump have been made with different types of electric drives (DC motors, hybrid stepper motor, piezomotors). Finally, from the technical and economical point of view was chosen the most suitable type of electric drive and it was created a functional prototype of the double-action pump and its properties were tested.
Study of plunger pump with linear motor
Jáchym, Jan ; Uttendorfský, Petr (referee) ; Pochylý, František (advisor)
This thesis deals with study and design of plunger pump with linear motor. This pump can be used for blood pumping in heart surgery. The theoretical part of this thesis is focused on description of extracorporeal circuit, heart boosters and artificial heart. This thesis provides an overview of check valves which are used in heart surgery too. Basic equitations for pump design are derived and calculated in this thesis. The pump design and manufacturing by the 3D technology was made by previous results. Finally, in this thesis are compared theoretical results and experimental data.
Swirl pump as an artificial heart replacement
Čápová, Ludmila ; Fialová, Simona (referee) ; Pochylý, František (advisor)
The purpose of the diploma thesis is to establish on survey of swirl pump from previous years and his optimization via which is suggested the second degree of synchronous pump whereas they should work together like a total artificial heart. Hydraulic and constructional proposal is solved. Conception is realized experimentally also with help of CFD calculation, results are compared with each other.
Design and measurement of the tandem pump as a heart replacement
Trlica, Karel ; Stareček, Jakub (referee) ; Pochylý, František (advisor)
This diploma thesis serves as a constructional study of an axial pump with a tandem arrangement of impellers. It may also be perceived as proposal of possible constructional variants that could be used as cardiac replacements. The thesis offers several conceptual variants, while the selected ones are elaborated in detail. Drawing documentation and 3D models are included in the attachment. The components were dimensioned according to the parameters necessary for proper heart function.
